Located on the outskirts of Norwich, the land had a long-standing history as orchards and in growing operations before falling derelict. It is now earmarked to become Victoria Gardens, a 300-home development.
Anglian’s expert Demolition and Asbestos Removal teams have cleared this vast and overgrown site, removing 11 commercial scale glasshouses, five industrial boilers, an underground coal bunker and a series of sheds
Work has included careful removal of licensed and non-licensed asbestos. All traces of previous buildings have gone, with concrete pads underneath the glasshouses being broken up and disposing of hundreds of panes of glass. Three huge metal storage tanks have been removed and sent for scrap.
All that remains is for Anglian to demolish the final outbuildings, which will be completed following further bat surveys.
Our Earthworks team will then roll in to crush around 5,000 tonnes of rubble and shred vast amounts of green waste from the overgrown site, which will be retained and reused when building work starts. Finally, we will level out the ground in its entirety, leaving the site as a blank canvas, ready for Orbit Homes to begin.
Sustainability has been front of mind throughout this job, with metal and wood transported back to Anglian’s facility in Attleborough for processing and recycling.
With the exception of asbestos, which was disposed of under duty of care, all materials were processed for reuse or recycled, with zero to landfill.
