Terms of skip hire
For the purposes of these conditions: Carrier means Anglian. Customer/Producer means the person named as in receipt of the skip.
- The hiring will commence on the date agreed and time of delivery to the address provided.
- The hiring charge will continue to be chargeable until the Customer has complied with the terms of the hire.
- Payment shall be due on or before delivery.
- The Carrier warrants that where the skip is to be positioned on private property, all such permissions as are necessary for access to the site and the depositing of the skip at that site has been obtained and will continue throughout the hiring (and) providing we act with reasonable care and skill and are not negligent, will not accept responsibility for loss or damage suffered by the Customer.
- Access to where the skip is to be delivered/collected must be free from obstruction – ie, trees, low wires etc. Where the customer orders the vehicle to enter the property, they do so at their own risk against advice from Anglian. Providing we act with reasonable care and skill, we will not accept liability for loss or damage suffered by the Customer.
- Pavements, driveways and manhole covers etc may not be constructed to carry heavy goods vehicles. In the event of the Customer ordering the vehicle off the highway, they accept full responsibility for any damage, which may be caused. Providing we act with reasonable care and skill, we will not accept liability for loss or damage suffered by the Customer.
- The Customer must not: A) light fires in the skip B) overload the skip beyond the sides (overloaded skips will not be removed) C) add greedy boards D) re-site the skip E) remove or interfere with any identification marks on the skip. The Customer must notify Anglian of any damage to the skip.
- Where skips are placed on a Highway, the Customer must ensure: A) skip has 4 cones placed around it B) place and maintain the lamps attached to the skip C) ensure the Highway is left clean, tidy and free from debris.
- The Customer shall ensure the bin is loaded so that: A) the contents will not fall on the Highway B) dust will not escape while loading or travelling C) no flammable, explosive, noxious, corrosive or dangerous material or anything which can become a nuisance is loaded.
- The Customer warrants to the Carrier that the information give by the Customer in the form is complete and accurate and indemnifies the Carrier against all fines, penalties and liabilities imposed on the Carrier or arising in respect of any non-compliance or contravention of any law or regulation relating to the skip and its contents together with the costs or expenses relating hereto incurred by the Carrier. The Customer will not be held liable, however, for these costs if incurred as a result of any negligence of the Carrier, his employees or agents.
- The Customer shall solely be responsible for and hold the Carrier fully indemnified against all claims, demands, liabilities, losses, damages, proceedings, costs and expenses which may be brought by the Carrier as a result of any accident involving the skip and its contents (other than damage, death or personal injury resulting from negligence of the Carrier, his employees or agents).
- Missing or stolen skips, cones and lamps shall be notified to the Carrier and will be charged at replacement cost.
- Damage to skips, cones and lamps will be charged at cost of repair.
- The maximum period of hire is 7 days, unless previously agreed. Collection is on Customer request. Rental will be charged after 7 days.
- All skip sizes are approximate (to manufacturer’s specification).
- If any driver deems the skip to be dangerous, the excess waste will be removed and left with the Customer.
- General waste and inert material – ie. soil, rubble and concrete, are not to be mixed in the same skip. Please ask to have a skip bag when ordering so wastes can be kept separate. Plasterboard must be kept separate – ask for a skip bag. No asbestos, gas bottles, liquids (including paint), tyres, fridges, televisions or waste electronics, or human or animal wastes.
- The Carrier reserves the right to add additional charges if any of the above items are placed in the skip. We also reserve the right to reject the load being brought onto the Anglian site. Should you wish to dispose of any of the wastes above, please contact Anglian on 01953 528888.
