Breydon Bridge

Our scaffolding team love a challenge and this project on one of the main bridges in Great Yarmouth was no exception!

Working day and night to complete the job, we were tasked with erecting a hanging scaffold structure below the Breydon Bridge – a live road bridge which has provided a crossing over the River Yare since 1985.

Client

Norwich City Council

Location

Great Yarmouth

Service

Scaffolding

As part of a £7.5m project to completely replace the bridge’s operating system, Anglian’s expert team designed and built a structure underneath the bridge to allow the engineers to work without it having to close.

By creating multiple apertures in the platform, the scaffolding enabled heavy hydraulic plant to be loaded and unloaded on barges below.

This was a highly complex project but one we absolutely loved. By delivering a safe platform from which these vital repairs could be undertaken, traffic could keep flowing on a busy route through Great Yarmouth.
