On 15th March, the first ever Pick ‘n’ Mix Impactful Networking event was hosted by Transforming Local Communities. Held in Drayton, Norfolk, the event bought together business professionals for a unique blend of networking and litter picking.

Launch of a New Networking Event

32 people from 26 different businesses attended the litter pick, including Atkinson Moss, CIM Signs & Graphics and the Big C. We are proud to have been headline sponsors of the first Pick ‘n’ Mix and have two representatives from Anglian also take part.

Participants arrived in Drayton, where they were divided into teams of threes and fours. They spent the morning litter picking around the Norfolk town along designated routes, whilst getting to know their team members and creating new connections.

After the litter pick, attendees enjoyed a well-deserved lunch at the Red Lion pub. The atmosphere was buzzing with conversation and excitement as people mingled and shared their experience from the morning’s activities.

An impressive total of 79kg of litter was collected by the team. This will all be sorted through so suitable materials can be recycled and any glass will be taken to a bottle recycling facility to raise money for Thorpe Marriott Village Hall.

Stacy Bradley, the event organiser, spoke passionately about the importance of her new event and the positive impact it has on the community. “The Pick ‘n’ Mix event is about brining people together to make a difference in their local community,” she said. “By combining networking with litter picking, we’re able to create a unique event not only benefits the environment but also helps build relationships between a variety of businesses.”

Creating a Safer & Cleaner Community

Littering is a significant problem that affects our environment in many ways. It not only makes our streets and communities look unsightly, but it also poses a danger to wildlife and contributes to pollution. Litter picking promotes a sense of community pride and responsibility, as it encourages people to take ownership of their local surroundings.

In addition to the positive impact on the environment, the event also raised £500 for a fantastic cause. This money will go towards supporting the “Safe at Home” initiative which provides security equipment, such as CCTV, to those experiencing post-separation abuse across East Anglia. This is an incredibly important cause which we are thrilled to be able to support it through the Pick ‘n’ Mix event.

The Future of Networking

The success of the event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. The support from Anglian Demolition & Asbestos, the enthusiasm of the attendees and the passion of the event organisers all came together to create a rewarding experience.

We would like to thank Stacy for her commitment and dedication to making our communities safer and cleaner to live in. Also a massive congratulations to Stacy on her first successful Pick ‘n’ Mix event – we look forward to attending many more in the future with the aspiration that these will become national events over the upcoming years.

Pick ‘n’ Mix is a shining example of how we can come together to make a difference in our county. By combining professional networking with community activism, we can take part in an event that not only benefits our connections, but also has a positive impact on the world around us. We look forward to watching Pick ‘n’ Mix grow and continue to support future events.

We leave you with Stacy Bradley’s word of wisdom, “We can all make a difference in our local community, and by working together, we can achieve great things.”
