I was formerly a Principal Environmental Health Officer (Health and Safety) for the London Borough of Southwark in 1975, specializing in health and safety enforcement in commercial premises.
In 1982 I was given the responsibility for identifying and managing the asbestos within 56,000 local authority premises. As well as health and safety enforcement issues, I formed and managed a team of Environmental Health Officers, Occupational Hygienists and Surveyors conducting asbestos surveys of local authority buildings, preparing specifications, evaluating tenders and supervising asbestos removal projects and contractors for the London Borough of Southwark. I was also involved in the management of our asbestos laboratory accredited by U.K.A.S. for asbestos fibre counting and bulk analysis.
I left the Local Authority in December 1999 to become fully involved with asbestos training for ARCA and my interests within the asbestos removal industry.
I was elected as a member of the Governing Council of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association 1992 to 1994.
Member of the Training Committee of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association 1992 to 1994.
Member of the Technical Committee of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association 1993 to date (Chairman 1996 to 2004).Meet the Team
