The Norwich Street site had been derelict since 2009 and after many years of it not being maintained, it had become an area which many people felt detracted from the appearance of the village. Plans for the ‘eyesore’ site in Necton to be redeveloped were to begin in 2017, with its demolition, undertaken by the Anglian Demolition & Asbestos team.
The project started by identifying, then removing asbestos in the buildings to ensure no asbestos was being disturbed during the demolition process. A total of 8.32 tons of asbestos waste was removed from the site and safely disposed of.
Demolition of the former diner and garage took place using traditional demolition methods. Our high reach machine had to be bought in to tackle the tall brick structure, which took it down with ease.
After 6 weeks of working in Necton, the project was complete and the site was cleared ready for the new development of a petrol station and drive-thru coffee shop to commence.
